The perfect home

Monty has a condition called Cervical Spondylomyelopathy, more commonly known as Wobblers Syndrome. This condition, which is most often seen in large and giant breed dogs, causes compression of the spinal cord in his neck. This affects the messages travelling between the brain and the body, giving Monty his characteristic "wobbly" gait and making him a little unsteady on his feet at times. It can also cause neck pain and weakness, and because it is a progressive condition, it is likely to become more noticeable as he gets older. Monty is managing very well with pain relief and anti-inflammatory medication, and he continues to enjoy life to the fullest.

Despite his diagnosis, Monty is full of love and affection. He adores people and is happiest when he's close to his favourite humans, leaning in for cuddles with his signature "Lurcher lean." He enjoys getting out for gentle walks, happily sniffing his way around our woodland paths or pottering around our secure paddocks, taking everything in at his own pace.

Monty may be able to live with another calm, confident dog who would enjoy quiet companionship rather than rough-and-tumble play. He can sometimes be a little enthusiastic when greeting other dogs, so a patient canine friend who won't be overwhelmed by his excitement would suit him best.

He could gradually build up to being left for a few hours if needed and would love a home with a secure, flat garden where he can enjoy soaking up the sunshine and spending time outdoors, especially on the days when he's feeling a little less energetic.

Monty could also live with sensible and understanding children around 14 years old, who are able to respect his condition and appreciate that he sometimes needs a quieter pace of life.

Monty may have a few extra needs, but what he gives back is immeasurable. His unwavering loyalty, gentle nature and endless affection make him an incredibly special boy.
